The CalNACHI Code of Ethics establishes principles and standards that are designed to
regulate conduct and behavior. Violation of the codes, or the spirit of the codes, could be grounds for disciplinary action
or dismissal from the organization.
1. Members shall not discriminate nor acquiesce in discrimination against
persons based on religion, race, age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or disability.
2. Members
should be courteous and well-mannered, and conduct themselves with dignity and in a manner that shows respect for their clients,
other inspectors and real estate professionals, and the public at large.
3.
Members
should explain their service(s) and the costs entailed, and should not make representations regarding such services or their
qualifications that may be false or misleading.
4. Members’ primary responsibility
is to their client(s), and information regarding the inspection report should not be provided to others without the client(s)
consent.
5. Members should not provide repairs or service for an additional fee on
any real property they have inspected for a period of twelve months, in compliance with the Business and Professions Code,
sections 7195 et seq., and should disclaim any service on a property in which they have a vested interest in the transfer
unless licensed and authorized to do so.
6. Members should not offer compensation
or inducement to anyone involved in the real transaction for future referrals or preferential treatment.
7. Members
should abide by the CALNACHI Standards of Practice, and conform to the requirements outlined in Chapter 9.3, Section 7195
et seq. of the California Business and Professions Code.
